Ordering & Delivery in Rhode Island Block Island, Rhode Island

Placing an order is similar to other towns but with a few island-specific considerations. Choose your delivery date and preferred time window, add a recipient name and clear delivery instructions (building name, cottage number, or landmark), and include any message you want delivered with the arrangement. Many florists accept special requests for seasonal flowers or color preferences and will note potential substitutions if an item is unavailable.

Because Block Island is connected to the mainland by ferry and small aircraft, deliveries can be affected by ferry schedules and weather conditions. Local florists coordinate shipments to arrive on the island in time for same-day or next-day delivery when possible. When ordering, confirm the florist's cutoff times for same-day delivery and whether they require orders to be placed earlier for weekend or holiday deliveries.

Timing Guidance and Cutoffs for Rhode Island Block Island, Rhode Island

Same-day delivery: Many florists can offer same-day service if you place your order before the florist's stated cutoff time—typically mid-morning to early afternoon—but availability varies. For guaranteed same-day delivery, order as early as possible and provide clear, reachable delivery instructions.

Next-day and scheduled deliveries: If same-day is not available due to transport constraints, next-day delivery is often offered. For important dates like weddings, funerals, or holiday events, schedule deliveries a day or two in advance to allow for reliable transport and to accommodate any required setup at a venue.

Weather and seasonal notes: Storms, heavy fog, or other hazardous conditions may delay deliveries. If weather threatens ferry or air service, florists will typically contact customers to reschedule or to arrange alternate delivery plans.

Flower Care Tips for Rhode Island Block Island, Rhode Island

To help arrangements last longer after delivery, follow these simple care steps:

• Unwrap promptly and place flowers in clean water as soon as possible.
• Recut stems at a 45-degree angle under running water to improve water uptake.
• Remove any leaves that will sit below the water line to reduce bacterial growth.
• Change the water every 1–2 days, and add floral preservative if provided.
• Keep arrangements in a cool spot, away from direct sun, drafts, and ripening fruit.
• If bouquets are wilting, trim stems again and submerge overnight in a shallow cool water bath to rehydrate.

Special considerations for island deliveries

Given coastal conditions, avoid leaving delicate arrangements in hot cars or exposed entryways for long periods. If you are arranging delivery to a vacation rental or inn, include clear drop-off instructions and the recipient’s expected presence so the florist can coordinate a handoff rather than leaving flowers outdoors.

If you have questions about availability for a specific date, large event needs, or special floral designs, contact your chosen florist through the ordering portal so they can confirm transport logistics and timing. Local florists are experienced with Block Island’s rhythms and can advise the best scheduling for reliable delivery and freshest flowers.
